Size Selection Guide: Rugs, Sofa Covers, Seat cushions
1. The size of the rug needs to be determined based on the placement area (living room, bedroom, entryway, etc.) and furniture layout, paying particular attention to the "coverage area" and "white space ratio."
Living Room: Cover the area in front of the sofa, ensuring the sofa legs can rest on the rug. Place the coffee table entirely in the center of the rug, leaving 20-30cm of white space around it to avoid crowding.
For L-shaped sofas, cover the main sofa area and the area in front of the individual seats to ensure visual continuity. The edge of the rug should be 30-50cm away from the wall to enhance the sense of space.
Bedroom: The key is easy access when getting out of bed. There are two common placement methods:
Leg Rug at the Foot of the Bed: Slightly longer than the bed width (usually 30-50cm wider), and the width should cover the area from the foot of the bed to the wall or the front half of the wardrobe, preventing slipping when getting out of bed.
Bedside Rug: If space is limited, choose two rectangular rugs and place them on either side of the bed, with the width level with the bedside table, allowing for direct contact of the feet with soft fabric when getting up at night.
Entryway/Bathroom Doorway: Prioritize slip resistance and water absorption. The carpet must completely cover the doorway area, ensuring your feet can fully touch the carpet after entering or washing up. The edges should not extend beyond the door frame.
2. Sofa Cover Size Errors: The size error of the sofa cover must be controlled within ±2cm. Before purchasing, be sure to accurately measure the sofa's length, width, height, and key dimensions to avoid looseness or tightness.
Overall Length: Measure from the outermost point of the left armrest to the outermost point of the right armrest (for curved armrests, measure the longest straight-line distance).
Seat Depth: Measure from the front edge of the sofa to the junction of the backrest and seat (if it's a sloping backrest, measure from the deepest point you feel when sitting). The standard seat depth is 50-65cm; add 3-5cm for the corresponding sofa cover seat depth.
Armrest Height: Measure from the ground to the top of the armrest. Measure the armrest width from the inner edge to the outer edge, ensuring the sofa cover completely covers the armrests without wrinkles.
Common Sofa Size Fitting Reference:
Single Sofa (Width 60-80cm): Fits sofa covers 65-85cm wide, seat depth 53-68cm, armrest height 60-70cm.
Double Sofa (Width 120-150cm): Recommended sofa covers 125-155cm wide, seat depth uniformly 55-70cm, ensuring comfortable seating for two people.
Three-Seater Sofa (Width 180-220cm): Sofa cover width 185-225cm. If it's a sectional sofa with a chaise lounge, the length of the chaise lounge needs to be measured separately (usually 80-100cm). Custom-made separate sofa covers will provide a better fit.
3. The seat cushion size must fit the seat surface perfectly, with an error of no more than ±3cm, to avoid slipping or edges hanging off. Also, pay attention to the thickness (usually 3-8cm) to ensure comfortable seating.
Dining chair cushions: Commonly square and round. Square cushions are mainly 40cm×40cm or 45cm×45cm, while round cushions are 40cm or 45cm in diameter. Measure the length × width (or diameter) of the chair seat to ensure the cushion covers 100% of the seat surface and the edges are flush with the seat edges.
Sofa cushions (supplementary): If the original sofa cushions are too firm, supplementary cushions can be used. The size should match the individual sofa seat surface, with a thickness of 5-8cm, to improve comfort.
Office chair/lounge chair cushions: The principle is to "fit snugly against the chair surface without restricting movement." The size is usually 45cm×45cm (square) or 40cm×50cm (rectangular). Avoid placing the cushions near the armrests to ensure they don't slide after placement.
